Series of Possible

A Series of Possible Progressions

London, UK, at the Chealsea College of Art,  2005

This exhibition was made up of Chelsea MA students and was the first exhibition in which I worked towards developing an art practice that was about the precarious relationship between curating and authorship.   It is what I am began to call   "the third practice" meaning that it would not be my art practice nor my practice as a curator It is simply the third one... .

My fellow colleages on the MA were asked if they wanted to participate, then given  simple instructions : do anything to a piece of A4 paper then on the given day, bring it into the gallery and place it within the triangle I had taped on the floor.  The triangle was made the exact dimensions as the design of the gallery and the obtuse triangle was turned 90 degrees so it would point towards the large enterance of the gallery which, faced a large set of doors.  I knew in advance that when the doors opened, strong negative air pressured would blow the  A4 paper towards a wall in which one of the students, a text painter, was asked to paint "A Series of Possible Progression".

The goal I was trying to achieve was to arrange an art experience, not produce nor create one.
